Augmented Reality Photo Contest

December 11th, 2010 by Peter

Put history in your reality with this National Archives photo contest. Use an archival image and mash it with the everyday world for a unique perspective on history today. Winners will be featured in a National Archives postcard book.

Detailed description

The National Archives has introduced an exciting new way to use our historic photograph collections: History Happens Here! augments reality and combines the old with the new in the same frame, giving the viewer a unique perspective on how our country has evolved over time.  Combining elements of a past time within the everyday world, History Happens Here! allows you to see history in your reality.

Anyone (including NARA staff) can choose a photo from the National Archives’ Archival Research Catalog (http://archives.gov/research/arc/) and capture the photo within the frame of the current landscape.  Participants will post the photo to the History Happens Here! NARA Photo Contest group on Flickr.  One winner and nineteen finalists will be featured in a History Happens Here! postcard book which will be available through the National Archives gift shop and online.

I AM THIS LAND video contest

November 19th, 2010 by Peter

Breakthrough, has launched the I AM THIS LAND video contest. From now until January 7th, 2011, we are calling on people to make a video on diversity using the phrase “I am this land,” and enter to win a grand prize of $2,500 and more.  In 2010, we watched all the things that happened in 2010: From anti-immigrant actions and racial profiling to bullying and homophobia; from fear mongering to the extreme, divisive rhetoric of the mid-term elections: it’s time for a do over.  We believe that in the new year many people are ready to live in a country that is open-minded and celebrates differences.

Check out our contest promo trailer here

As part of the project, we are also happy to announce that stars like Michael Urie, from Ugly Betty, and Sharon Jones from Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, have lent their support for the cause and the contest.

And for those that are unable to make a video, we still want your participation. Follow @breakthrough, with the hashtag #iamthisland and tell us who or what symbolizes diversity to you. All entries are entered to win a DJ Hero by Activision.

If you have any questions on I AM THIS LAND, please email Crissy Spivey at crissy@breakthrough.tv.

The Compassion Campaign YouTube Video Contest

October 1st, 2010 by Peter

The Compassion Campaign YouTube Video Contest is a forum for filmmakers and artists to express their visions of global compassion. The video with the most viewings wins $500.

Express your vision.  Spread compassion.
For contest information, please visit Contest Page:

http://www.innerpathproductions.org/contest

Check out the “artist’s version” of the song, Season of Compassion

http://www.youtube.com/GlobalCompassion

The Compassion Campaign is creating a new reality…one dream at a time.   Artists, filmmakers, activists and visionaries are invited to post their visions of global compassion in the form of a video.  These videos will all share the same soundtrack: a song entitled Season of Compassion by Ed Munter.  The contest gives filmmakers the opportunity to express their unique perspectives on global compassion. No product being sold.  No seminar being promoted.  The only intention of the project is to spread compassion.
What does global compassion look like to you?
The Compassion Campaign is about remembering that we are one with each other, one with the planet and one with the universe.  It is about remembering that we are all connected.  It is about knowing that we each have a unique gift to bring.  It is about experiencing the sense of empowerment that comes from expressing of our unique gifts.  It is about the chain reaction that occurs in consciousness when one person gives Love without expecting anything in return.
Let us gather our dreams and explore the Season of Compassion as the pioneers of the New World.
