Brick Internships for Sp2010

Video Interns (2): Two credits will be granted to these interns. Interns will assist the video editor with various news pieces, including breaking news, campus news, and the arts. Interns should be familiar with Final Cut (preferred), iMovie, Avid, or Adobe Premiere Pro. Interns will gain knowledge about video editing software and how to structure a video news piece. Interns will be also helping with Brick TV on PTV, our weekly news show on our campus television station. Students who have taken Broadcast Journalism classes are strongly recommended to apply. We are also looking for New Media or Media Society and the Arts majors, but anyone is welcome to apply if you have a passion for producing news videos. Attendance at weekly meetings is required.

Internship Opportunity – People’s Television

Marketing and Production intern
Intern to help develop relationships with partner organizations and community groups to distribute current and future media projects by People’s Television.   Other responsibilities include helping to manage our online presence, including our own websites/blogs and presence on social networking and video sites. Intern may assist in areas of fundraising, research, grantwriting, permissions, locations, script revising, etc. for feature projects currently in development by People’s Television.

This position is open to students of all majors (with 30+ credits).  Only requirement is strong communication skills and an interest in social media projects.  

The internship bears 4 upper-level credits for 5-10 hours/week.  The internship is unpaid, all travel and expenses will be reimbursed.

Media Careers Panel

The Career Development Center will once again host Career Week, from October 26th-29th. Career Week is designed to educate students about various career fields by inviting alumni and other professionals to share their career stories in a series of panel discussions.

Internships with Purchase Alum at People's Television

Pre-production Intern

We are seeking a pre-production intern to help us prepare for production for a feature film project currently in development by People’s Television.

Primary responsibility will be assisting in fundraising, research and grantwriting. Other responsibilities include researching permissions, locations, gear, assisting in rehearsals, casting.

This is an unpaid internship for 4-upper level credits. Some work can be done from home, some in our office in upper Manhattan. All travel expenses will be reimbursed. Must have a minimum of 30 credits in order to apply for credit.

Qualifications:  Great writing skills and web researching skills a must. Someone with interest and flair for international affairs, politics, science and filmmaking.

Approximate Hours Per Week: 5-10 Hours/week

New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival – April 2-4

Composers, performers, and media artists from around the globe come together for three days of experimental sound art and multimedia at the first New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, April 2-4 at the CUNY Graduate Center, Galapagos Arts Space, The Tank, and Harvestworks Digital Media Arts Center.

NYCEMF will showcase over 120 new works, installations, and papers during the festival, representing the fascinating and wide range of artistic mischief that can occur when musicians play with machines.

Pipilotti Rist at MOMA — Multimedia Installations

The Donald B. and Catherine C. Marron Atrium, second floor

Pipilotti Rist’s lush multimedia installations playfully and provocatively merge fantasy and reality. MoMA commissioned the Swiss artist to create a monumental site-specific installation that immerses the Museum’s Marron Atrium in twenty-five-foot-high moving images. Visitors will be able to experience the work while walking through the space or sitting upon a sculptural seating island designed by the artist.
